MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The school board for Midland Independent School District Heard heard recommendations from the Bullying Committee and agreed on a lower tax rate.
The Bullying Committee, started after complaints from parents earlier in 2018, proposed several recommendations to the board.
These recommendations included an app-based reporting tool to allow anyone to report harrassment anonymously, they implement a uniform training process for all district staff on how to handle bullying reports and investigations, and a revision to the bullying checklist used by officials.
The council also adopted a tax rate of 1.12005 per $100 valulation, a little less than the current tax rate of 1.12755.
An average home with a value of $250,000 could pay nearly $19 less this fiscal year.
