Greenwood ISD High School students work to help out local organizations across Midland

High school students at Greenwood ISD were spreading holiday cheer by packing up goodie bags, loading up toys and doing community service.

MIDLAND, Texas — People all around the Permian Basin are continuing to give back to those in need during the holidays.

On Wednesday, Greenwood ISD High School students got to work as they helped out local organizations across Midland.

The students packed up goodie bags, loaded up toys and did community service.

One group of students helped out Mission Agape for their Christmas Blessing Event that gives back to 950 kids and over 300 families.

A few of the students who helped out on Wednesday told NewsWest 9 how this experience made a lasting impact on them.

"Helping the community giving back. Just helping out," Student Bryson Smithheart said.

"It makes me feel good," Student Cooper Lough said. "I know a lot of my peers and makes us feel good. So it's just kind of different from school."

"I feel like giving back to the community made me feel really good as a person to know that I am contributing to my community in a way that I can," Student Kyra Pivaral said. "It showed me to be appreciative of everything that I have as a person."

"I like to help and especially if you can see that people's smiles and stuff," Student Jonathan Coronado said. "It's just fun and nice to see."

Mission Agape is set to hold their Christmas Blessing Event on Saturday.
