MIDLAND, Texas — Chevron USA, doing business as Beyond6, recently announced the opening of a new public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Midland.
The station is part of Chevron's efforts to offer lower carbon intensity energy solutions.
The opening of this new public CNG fueling station serves the needs of Detmar Logistics' fleet of CNG-powered trucks.
Chevron USA partnered up with Detmar to help make CNG more accessible to not just them but everyone else in the Permian Basin.
Detmar CEO Matt Detmar said one of the benefits of CNG is just how much it helps save on costs for everyone involved.
“Natural Gas over time has always been...the pricing of natural gas has always been more flat when it comes to the pricing compared to diesel; volatility is not a thing," Detmar said. "But as well as working with Chevron and linking renewable natural gas to the station we’re able to take advantage of some alternative fuel tax credits as well.”
The station will help Detmar Logistics achieve their goal of reducing carbon intensity and improving freight efficiency. The station will also help lower carbon intensity-specialized transportation around the Permian Basin.
“It’s helped us work with our customers to reduce their scope 3 emissions and add a lower emissions trucking proposition to the Permian Basin as well," Detmar said. "It also helps us control our costs to our customers as well; putting us out of the range of diesel spikes as well.”
Detmar said they will soon have 70 CNG trucks in their fleet and plan to get even more in the future.
