ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — Editor's Note: This story is updated as the previous headline was incorrect.

An Odessa jury awarded a local man $262.5 million following a 2021 severe car crash that involved a drunk driver.

The trial was held in the 70th District Court of Ector County.

Issac Sanchez, who was 32-years-old at the time, was hit from behind by a drunk driver while he was stopped at the intersection of Yukon and Andrews Highway.

As a result of the accident, Sanchez suffers from Quadriplegia, a type of spinal cord injury.

According to a Friday morning news release by Sanchez's lawyers, Glasheen, Valles and Inderman Injury Lawyers of Odessa and The Baily Law Firm of San Angelo, the lawsuit against Linx Food and Beverage, LLC dba Linx Bar and Grill was developed from evidence presented at the trial that revealed the drunk driver was overserved.

The firm's senior partner Chad Inderman said, “the jury spoke very clearly last night when it told Linx Bar & Grill and all other bars that they need to follow the rules."
