ODESSA, Texas — The Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) held a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Night Thursday to help students and parents through the complexities of college and financial aid applications.
Representatives from Odessa College, University of Texas Permian Basin, Sul Ross State and Angelo State University were all in attendance to aid students through the application process.
This year, ECISD has also introduced a new district admissions application program that offers potential admission to over 30 colleges and universities as they try to grow the number of students who aim for higher education.
"We understand that the process of applying for financial aid whether it be federal financial aid or scholarships it can be a very frustrating process especially if you don't know," said Rico Enriquez, the ECISD CCR Director. "A lot of families don't understand that process so we want to make every attempted effort to educate our parents and provide that support so that they feel comfortable and encouraged and not afraid of the process. We can help them with that part of it, we just need them to come in and get support."
