GREENWOOD, Texas —
Greenwood ISD's bond passed on Election Day early November.
Proposition A of the bond includes two new campuses and improvements to the high school, as well as reconfiguring the elementary campus that the district currently has.
According to Superintendent Ariel Elliot the district is currently still in the design phase.
“Really since the election, the lawyers and the financial people are working on the money side and then the architects are working on getting these designed; surveying the land, doing the things that need to be done to start building new buildings,” said Elliott.
But Elliot says a lot of this design work also started way before the election even happened and because of that they’re a bit ahead of the curve in this current stage.
“We knew that we lived in a great community, and we know that we’re in a growing community, so we’ve been working on this way before the bond passed," Elliott continued. "The architect and our staff and our community, we’ve been working on this as we planned the bond a lot of these questions came up and we were able to work on those throughout that whole process.”
Elliott also says that he hopes that students and staff will be in the new campuses by august of 2026.
