MIDLAND, Texas —
American Legion Post 19 in Midland held their BBQ, Bloody Mary's, and Hot Wheels fundraiser for the Sons of the American Legion.
“The Sons is one group of the American Legion family for the male relatives of service members and the group is supportive of everything that goes on at this post. And so today this fundraiser is to raise some funds for that group specifically,” said Tina Grace, service officer for American Legion Post 19.
The post doesn’t just host fundraising events like these for their members and their families, everyone in the community, even those who aren’t veterans or have family members that are, are always welcome to attend.
“Absolutely, we'd love to have any member of our community come up today, enjoy the car show and come enjoy the Bloody Mary contest, buy a plate of food, all of the funds will support this post. The community is absolutely welcome,” Grace continued.
To the post and the Sons of the American Legion, you don’t need to be a veteran or family member of one to show support.
“It just shows that community... in my mind, it shows that the community is here to support us in anything that we do,” said Glenn Smith, First Vice Commander of the Sons of the American Legion.
Post 19 will be holding a first responders benefit on May 11th.
