GRANDFALLS, Texas — According to a Facebook post from Grandfalls-Royalty ISD, Payton Pesina, a student at the school has passed away.
The statement reads:
"I am deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of one of our beloved students, Payton Pesina. His warmth, kindness and bright spirit touched the lives of many in our community. It's a loss deeply felt by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Payton Pesina's family and friends during this difficult time. We will always cherish the memories we shared and the impact Payton had on all of us.
Rest in peace, our Cowboy.
We will have additional counselors on campus tomorrow for any student or staff member needing assistance.
At this time, picture day will be cancelled and rescheduled."
According to the school, Junior High games in Iraan for Monday were also cancelled. The school will notify everyone when they are rescheduled.
