It was a celebration Tuesday night for Midland and Odessa after both cities' Chamber of Commerce and UT Permian Basin reached some milestones.
This year, all three organizations got together at a joint mixer in the newly renovated UTPB Center for Energy and Economic Diversification building.
The Odessa Chamber is kicking off 2024 with 90 years of service, and the Midland Chamber is recognizing 100 years. UTPB is ringing in 2024 with 50 years in the community as well.
"Of course, always thrilled to have our friends in Midland and Odessa Chambers together," UTPB President Dr. Sandra Woodley said. "In a couple of months, we'll all be going into Washington DC together to advocate for the Permian Basin and roads and grants and research and all of the things that we need in the Permian Basin. So these two Chamber groups come together every year, either go to Austin or go to Washington D.C. to advocate for our region."
Dr. Woodley also said how the new CEED building is just one of many highlights of the university celebrating 50 years of education.
