MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Police Department has arrested Jessie James Johnson Jr. for his involvement in a shooting.
The incident occurred on Sept. 1 at 3:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of E. Illinois Ave.
The shooting prompted Young Women's Leadership Academy and Midland Freshman High School to take a precautionary lockdown. Additionally, Carver Center took actions to secure their building and IDEA Travis took extra precautions during afternoon dismissal.
The gunshot victim was transported to the hospital.
MPD issued a warrant for Johnson on Sept. 2. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to jail records, his bond has been set at $100,000.
