WARD COUNTY - Residents in Ward County were shook up this weekend after they spotted a tank battery fire south of Pyote.

Thanks to Cesar Zermeño with the Pecos Volunteer Fire Department for the pictures.

Fire crews delt with the tank battery fire eight miles south of mile marker 58 off I-20 Saturday evening.

Crews tell us the fire caused extensive damage to a cimarex tank battery and rig in the area.

Lots of residents tell us they saw smoke off the Interstate.

Authorties say they were letting it burn out.
