Andy Meade joined NewsWest 9 as the Weekend Meteorologist in August 2024. He graduated from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) in May 2024 majoring in Atmospheric Science with a concentration in Broadcast Meteorology.

During his college years, he worked closely with his university on several funded research projects from the NASA Earth Division (Increasing Participation of Minority Serving Institutions) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) where he worked on creating inexpensive weather instruments and launching weather balloons for the October 2023 lunar solar eclipse and the April 2024 total solar eclipse, collecting valuable weather data with designated weather stations at different sites.

Meade also worked closely on his own research project investigating Severe Weather Systems in the Tropics, which he presented at the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

He also served as the broadcast coordinator for his local chapter of AMS called 2CAMS (Corpus Christi American Meteorological Society) at the university. As the broadcast coordinator, Andy created the TAMUCC Weather Broadcasting team where he took the lead for the atmospheric science students which the university supported as they shared the broadcasts on social media.

Andy has always had a passion for broadcast meteorology as he gained his love of weather from his childhood days watching storms with his grandfather in Virginia.

In his past time, he loved watching professional wrestling and is a fan of the The Undertaker — alongside playing video games and longboarding.
