MIDLAND, Texas — Jenna Bush Hager and Barbra Pierce Bush visited the Petroleum Club in Midland to promote their new children's book called, "Love Comes First."
The book is inspired by Jenna and Barbra's growing families and the way our hearts can always make room for more love.
"We wrote 'Love Comes First' now that our families look different than they did when we were growing up," Pierce Bush said. "I had a baby, Jenna has a son, all of a sudden we have little kids that are cousins that are growing in love, and so we wrote a book just to really reiterate that love is infinite and there's always room for more love."
Bush Hager emphasizes that the bond between two sisters is powerful and spreads.
"We know that as sisters, we made each other braver, but what we've realized is sisterhood does that but so do friends that are like family, so do brothers and sisters, so do cousins, nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and chosen family," Bush Hager said.
Like their previous children's books, "Love Comes First" allows them to share their passion for writing with folks, not only across the country, but right here in Midland.
"Well, mainly we like to go on tour because now we're in Midland and we can have tacos and places that we went when we were little," the sisters said.
Although the work is aimed at teaching children how to share love, there's an ultimate message of caring for one another.
"I mean, I think kids see people that are different than them that they may not know and they're loving and patient and kind," Bush Hager said. "It's adults that can maybe take a page, but hopefully parents will read this to their kids and it will spread a little love."
