Ector County ISD holds 4th annual 'State of the District' event

Hosted by ECISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Muri, the event gives the school district a chance to share any updates on academics and progress for bond projects.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — The Ector County Independent School District held their 4th annual "State of the District" event on Thursday.

Hosted by ECISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Muri, the event gives the school district a chance to share any updates on academics, progress for bond projects and other changes to come in the year with staff, students and parents.

With 2024's theme being "impact", Dr. Muri touched on how the school district is not only changing the lives of students, but also for teachers and staff members.

"We spend a lot of time on compensation, improving compensation for teachers and also thinking about stackable compensation," Dr. Muri said. "How can teachers earn a different types of compensation by doing different things or just by being a really good teacher. And today we have teachers that make over $100,000 a year in ECISD and today we also introduced the $200,000 principle. You know, we're working on stackable compensations and we will have principals that will be making over $200,000 in ECISD just because they're really good. And every great school is led by a great principal, which is like a great classroom is led by a great teacher. And compensation is one way that we help our folks that we really attract, recruit and retain greatness."

Dr. Muri went on to say how he's excited for the school district to keep growing, along with the projects from 2023's bond proposal.
