Former Dallas Cowboys Quarterback and Coach Jason Garrett comes to Midland for a great cause

"I haven't been back to Midland-Odessa in a long long time so it is good to be back here," Garrett said. "[The Salvation Army] does God's work."

MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Salvation Army hosted a very special guest on Thursday. Former Dallas Cowboys Quarterback and Head Coach Jason Garrett met with fans, signed autographs and took pictures with guests at the Midland Shelter.

"It's exciting for me to be here. I haven't been back to Midland-Odessa in a long time so it's good to be back here and connect with The Salvation Army," said Garrett.

Garrett's main reason for being in the Midland-Odessa area was for the Midland and Odessa Salvation Army Restoration Dinner that took place Thursday night.

Garrett was a guest speaker at the dinner which went on at the Midland Country Club.

All the money raised from this fundraiser benefited the West Texas community to help with homelessness, shelters and sobriety programs through the Salvation Army in Midland and Odessa.

"They (The Salvation Army in Midland and Odessa) do God's work. They make people's lives better," Garrett said. "There are so many people who literally put their lives on the line to help other people get themselves squared away in life. There are so many inspirational stories that we've heard through the years and all the people you meet and connect with at The Salvation Army. They just inspire you everyday with how they live their lives."
