ODESSA, Texas — April is recognized as "National Donate Life Month" and the Life Champion Committee at Medical Center Health System is recognizing their local and employee organ donors.
On Thursday, MCH hosted their donor memorial service at the Donor Garden.
Local and employee donors, along with their families, were recognized for giving the gift of life.
They even shared personal stories of how donating has affected them and their family.
In 2023, there were 10 organ donors at MCH, which resulted in 25 organs transplanted.
"So we started the program. We actually had one of our committee members go to a conference with Southwest Transplant Alliance, and she came back with such a passion for the ripple effect that donation has from the donor family to the recipient family," said Larissa Guvara, chair of the Life Champion Committee at MCH. "So we started this to honor those people that gave very selflessly to make someone else's life continue."
The event wrapped up with a powder cannon release to pay tribute to last year's donors.
