MIDLAND, Texas — Toys and toys galore at the Midland Soup Kitchen on Friday, as they held their 37th Annual Community Christmas Meal.
MSK broke a record as well, serving 1,000 people a hot meal and it was all completely free.
"This is my favorite event for this entire year of getting into the Christmas spirit and helping others in a cause that's bigger than themselves and its a blessing to be a part of it," MSK Administrator Nathen Ivy said. "We take pride in being able to give back that Christmas experience to the community because a lot of people are not gonna get it this year. That's something my family has taken on and I wouldn't have it any other way that's for sure."
MSK also told NewsWest 9 that they had to stay open an hour longer once they were done serving. They also gave out 2,100 toys to the kids.
