MIDLAND, Texas — Midland's Astound Broadband Stadium hit the big screen after a day of filming the "Stan The Man" movie.

Greenwood Alumni Emily Binns is going back to her roots and producing a movie all about football, redemption and second chances in West Texas.

On Sunday, locals across Midland-Odessa had the chance to star in the opening scene of the movie, where the main character Stan, played by Angus Benfield, is coaching a professional football team.

NewsWest 9 was able to catch up with Binns and hear how the community played a big role in the movie so far.

"It's been really great seeing everyone come out, especially the school, [Greenwood] Superintendent Ariel Elliot, he's been great," Binns said. "The coaches they've been fabulous, Greenwood being there all hours over the night until like midnight, some nights 11. Just really setting up the field for us, tearing it down, asking whatever we need. They have just been very gracious to give up their time. I know their families have missed them especially since it's Christmas. So we're very very thankful."

While "Stan The Man" is set to be released some time in the Fall of 2024, a trailer is already in the works and could be out as soon as January 2024.
