Panther Pictures says the City of Fort Stockton has terminated the Fort Stockton Movie Theatre's contract

The last premiere the Fort Stockton Movie Theatre will be having is "WONKA" starting Friday and ending on Dec. 31.

FORT STOCKTON, Texas — Panther Pictures said on Facebook Friday that the City of Fort Stockton has made a decision to terminate the Fort Stockton Movie Theatre's contract due to what the management teams claims was "failure to establish an amicable landord-tenant relationship."

"[It] is in our opinion is a political move and admittedly an unjust, abuse of power reason for termination. After attempts to make amends and to save our beloved theatre, we have been given the 'run-around' with blame shifting back and forth to whose decision this was," Panther Pictures said on Facebook. "We are extremely disappointed in our city leadership with their collective decision to abruptly stop what we have worked tirelessly for when there are council members that have never paid the courtesy to visit us and see what exactly we had been doing at the Fort Stockton Movie Theatre."

The Fort Stockton Movie Theatre has been operating for 21 months.

The last premier Panther Pictures will show is "WONKA" starting Friday and ending on Dec. 31.

NewsWest 9 has reached out to the City of Fort Stockton for comment on this decision and have not heard back.
