The donated land from Larry Lee to the City of Odessa made the park possible. The park will be named in honor of his late mother, Peggy Grace Lee.

“She will be remembered by her family,” Larry Lee said in the Facebook post. “We have been in Odessa for close to 50 years, and it is nice to have something in her name.”

The park will be located at Dawn Ave. and Palo Duro Dr. It will have a dog park for big and small dogs, a playground, two pavilions, a walking trail and basketball courts.

Council Member Denise Swanner was a vital in making the park a reality.

“I’m excited to see it come to life,” Swanner said in the Facebook post. “There are a lot of moving parts when building a park, and being an intricate part is very exciting.”

The city says the park is expected to open in two months.
