New exhibit about ancient art opens at UTPB

The exhibit is called "Echos of Eternity" and it shows different art pieces from ancient Mesoamerican history.

ODESSA, Texas — There is a new exhibit at The University of Texas Permian Basin if anyone is interested in ancient art!

The exhibit is called "Echos of Eternity."

It shows different art pieces from ancient Mesoamerican history.

People can find stone sculptures, jade pendants, intricate ceramics and admiration for the artistic mastery and cultural narratives of Mesoamerican history.

It took the university many years to put the exhibit together because they wanted to make sure they told the bigger story of Mesoamerica.

Jason Osborne, the chief business officer of syGlass, said living in the Lone Star State helped spark his interest in studying these pieces.

"I've been in into Mesoamerican art since 2016 when I moved to Texas," Osborne said. "I was into ancient cultures more into Mesoamerica in Mexico and Guatemala."

The exhibit is located at UTPB's Art Gallery and will be on display until Friday.
