MIDLAND, Texas — NewsWest 9 reported on Monday about how Midland Animal Services (MAS) was closing their doors Thursday for mandatory staff training.
NewsWest 9 got to speak with Animal Services Manager Melissa Griffin-Hobson to learn more about the training and what the staff learned through the process.
The training is designed to recognize animal cruelty in the field, to deal with the necessary steps to handle animal cruelty and how to create a strong animal community.
"The benefit to the public really is that we will have a better ability to keep the animals in Midland safe," Griffin-Hobson said. "We also invited local law enforcement as well as the animal control officer with the county so that we can bring all of the stakeholders together to really protect the animals of Midland."
Throughout February, MAS will be holding a $14 adoption special on all their animals.
