MIDLAND, Texas — In the early morning hours of Monday, February 19, 2024, the Midland Fire Department and the Midland Police Department responded to a fire that broke out 33 minutes after midnight.
The two departments worked together for over three hours to evacuate residents from the Ranchland Apartments located at 1200 E. Wadley Ave.
One person was injured, 22 residents were displaced from their apartments, and eight units were impacted. Officials have said that the fire began due to an individual who was cooking.
The American Red Cross is in the process of finding housing for the displaced residents.
Midland Fire Department officials are still investigating the incident.
