Congressman August Pfluger honors visually impaired man with award

Allen Sigler was honored with the award by Congressman Pfluger Thursday.

MIDLAND, Texas — An employee from the West Texas Lighthouse For The Blind got the ultimate honor on Thursday.

Congressman August Pfluger awarded Allen Sigler.

Congressman Pfluger got to tour the facility to see all the work the non-profit organization does in creating items.

The West Texas Lighthouse For The Blind is a non-profit that employs the blind or visually impaired people in Midland, San Angelo and Abilene.

This was a way to highlight someone who is making a difference in the community.

"It's great to be at the West Texas Lighthouse For The Blind," Congressman Pfluger said. "It's not my first stop to a facility like this, but we come in here to present an award to a great leader. To someone who put their heart and soul not just manufacturing but helping others who are visually impaired, that have the ability to have a job and do great things. I love this part of the job because you get to see the best of the community."

Sigler will get the chance to take a trip to Washington D.C. and Congressman Pfluger said Sigler and his sons will get a tour of the United State Capitol.
