Midland Rape Crisis and Children's Advocacy Center celebrates 45 years

"Being here has really changed me in the sense that I have realized that abuse happens here in Midland and in the Permian Basin," said Annabel Aguilar.

MIDLAND, Texas — On Friday, the Midland Rape Crisis and Children's Advocacy Center (MRCCAC) celebrated their 45th birthday for staying committed to helping children and adults from abuse.

From this time last year, there has been a 26-percent increase for abuse in the Permian Basin.

The Midland Rape Crisis Center welcomes all age groups suffering from abuse and has the resources to help.

"Being here has really changed me in the sense that I have realized that abuse happens here in Midland and in the Permian Basin," said Annabel Aguilar, the marketing coordinator for MRCCAC. "Sometimes we think it won't happen to me or it doesn't happen here, but it does. Whether it's a surrounding county or here in Midland, it happens here."

The MRCCAC has a 24/7 hotline available for anyone with questions, a witness to abuse or someone who has gone through abuse.
