Odessa City Council breaks ground on Odessa Sports Complex

The Odessa Sports Complex will be placed on a 100-acre-lot on Faudree Rd. near Yukon Rd.

ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa City Council formally broke ground Tuesday morning on what will soon become the Odessa Sports Complex.

The complex will be placed on a 100-acre-lot on Faudree Rd. near Yukon Rd. The 100-acre-lot was donated to the city by Larry Bell and his family. Bell said he wants the complex to honor his late daughter, Amy.

"We said some day this will be Amy's Park," Bell said. "Well, that day is coming very soon and we are so thrilled and excited because it's a way for Amy to continue her legacy of 'Pay It Forward,' and also to care for children that she had such a special heart for."

The indoor complex will include 20 volleyball courts, 10 basketball courts and a competition track.

The outdoor area will have 12 multi-use fields for soccer, football and lacrosse.

The sports complex is expected to open either later this year or early next year.
