Odessa teen gets gifted new outfit for rodeo

Texas non-profit Ropin' Dreams, which helps out people with special needs, helped one Odessa teen get a new cowboy outfit.

ODESSA, Texas — Ropin' Dreams went out of their way to help out an Odessa teen with special needs, Sebastian Baeza, to get him a new outfit for Thursday night's rodeo.

Sebastian had this experience with no cost to him and his family.

Ropin' Dreams is dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of young people with special needs.

"Well, we are honored that God chose us to do his work," Ropin' Dreams Co-Founder Dub Mcclister said. "And we do a lot with the PRCA, we do a lot with the PBR, we travel all over making smiles on some pretty sick kids' faces and what we do is try to spread the light of the gospel everywhere we go."

Mcclister said having a child with special needs will change your life, of course, but it doesn’t mean that there can’t still be happiness.

“Anytime you have a special needs child in your family, whether it be cancer, whether it be an accident, some type of illness; it’s a game changer," Mcclister said. "We try to go and bring a little light into some really dark worlds and that’s what God wants us to do.”

Sebastian was more than happy to receive these gifts and that he was going to be going to the rodeo with his family.

When NewsWest 9 asked Sebastian how he felt about the experience he said he was excited, and the bulls attracted him the most when it came to the rodeo.

During the experience, the Odessa teen was treated to a free lunch as well.
