]The winner of the sports complex logo contest is Karen Pecina, an art student at University of Texas Permian Basin.

In April, the City of Odessa teamed up with Odessa Arts and The Amy Bell Sports Foundation to create a logo for the complex.

Students from Ector County, Odessa College and UTPB applied for the contest.

Altogether, about 26 entries were received and the committee narrowed it down to the top three.

When the community voted, they chose Pecina's logo.

"I'm all over the moon it feels surreal in a good way. It makes me happy and proud that I got to this point. I'm thankful for the support from my family, friends who spread the word everywhere and the people from the city who voted too," Pecina said. "I was reading their comments. I got a sense of proud in me I got a lot of warmth. I felt warm inside seeing they really find it appealing because that was my goal to make it enjoyable to the eyesight. I'm really glad with everything I did and how everything turned out."

As part of Pecina's award, she also got a $1,500 scholarship, which can be used towards UTPB or Odessa College.
