MIDLAND, Texas — Tis the season of giving and spreading holiday cheer! On Tuesday, Chevron Midland and The Salvation Army teamed up to spread that holiday cheer.
With holiday inflation in full effect, Chevron employees gave back to those in need through the 2023 Angel Tree Christmas Giveaway.
Employees adopted over 200 angels and collected the items that were on their wish lists.
Tuesday was loading day and Salvation Army workers pitched in to give a helping hand.
"Chevron and The Salvation Army have a rich tradition of working together in the Midland community, and we have for many years," Public & Government Affairs Adviser of Chevron Catie Matthews said. "We have supported the Angel Tree for many years before, but this year they had an extra need. The demand was overwhelming and they asked us if we could do a little bit more."
As The Salvation Army and Chevron have given back to Angel Tree for many years, this won't be the last.
"Salvation Army has been doing Angel Tree [for] over 100 years," Midland Salvation Army Captain Robert Coriston said. "We're gonna continue to do that because we think that every kid should wake up to that excitement, toys under the Christmas tree."
"Chevron and Salvation Army had partnered with the Angel Tree for many years. It's a rich tradition," Matthews said. "We keep growing and our employee base keeps growing and we'll be giving more and more for years to come. We're just delighted to have the opportunity to do so."
The items collected Tuesday are set to be handed out on Dec. 19.
