MIDLAND, Texas — Lines of cars were parked outside a Midland warehouse Tuesday, as families picked up toys for their kids.
Several volunteers worked together to get bags packed and ready to go for families who are under the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. Plus, the toys came from the NewsWest 9 Salvation Army Toy Drive.
"It feels good to be a part of this and doing the gifts and sending them off to the families that deserve them," Volunteer Shannon Sanchez said. "It's the community that brings us together to do this. It's something that's amazing and it's a gift from God to be blessed to come out here and work with the Salvation Army and get things rolling."
Families of low income apply for the Angel Tree Program in October and generous donors in the local community adopt Angel Tree recipients to purchase toys and other items for them.
For any forgotten angels, meaning angels who are not adopted, that's when your donations from the NewsWest 9 Toy Drive help those people.
