City of Odessa Utilities Director Kevin Niles taking new position in Kansas

MANHATTAN, Kan. — On Wednesday, Interim City Manager of Manhattan, Kansas, Jason Hilgers, said City of Odessa's Director of Public Utilities, Kevin Niles, has been hired for a position in their city.

Starting Sept. 3, Niles will assume a role as director of public utilities for the City of Manhattan, Kansas, according to the city's website.

Niles has more than 10 years of experience in utility management, according to the City of Manhattan's website. In Odessa, he was responsible for leading the department that operates in five divisions, which includes a laboratory, water treatment, wastewater treatment, distribution, collections and administration.

“We welcome Kevin to the team and look forward to his leadership and oversight in delivering essential water and wastewater services to the community,” Hilgers said in the release. “Kevin will join several experienced and highly valued personnel in our new Public Utilities Department.”

According to the management tab on the City of Odessa's website, there has not been a replacement for Niles or a known fill in.
