Sunny Sauceda, three-time Grammy winner, performing at Fourth of July Fandango in Odessa

NewsWest 9 got to speak with Sauceda a couple of hours before his performance.

ODESSA, Texas — Three-time Grammy-winning artist Sunny Sauceda is performing at Thursday's Fourth of July Fandango in Odessa.

NewsWest 9 was able to catch up with Sauceda a few hours before his performance. He had a message to the fans and the attendees who are going to Thursday night's event.

"The thing is what I appreciate about Odessa, it's that everything is, of course it's a level plane and the drive out here is so beautiful. It's so nice and it's different. It's a different type of scenery, but if you've ever seen the sun setting when you're coming into town, it's so beautiful and so majestic. It just reminds you of how big God is and it's just amazing. So we love it," Sauceda said.

Sauceda went on to say that there are "a lot of hard working people here. So we love to come here. It's the people, always friendly and you know you can always find a good burrito in Odessa. What I can say is come out take pictures, take video, tag us, share it. We just got nominated for best Tejano artist for the Texas Country Music Awards and just share the love, show the love, come out and support and we can't wait to meet you. The best part of this gig is not the music. It's not getting paid. It's not any of that. The best part is meeting the people who support us, who spend money on their tickets, on merchandise, on streaming music, on buying CD's. So that's the best part to meet the people that are actually supporting us."

Sauceda is performing at 6 p.m. The event is free to the public. The festive event will conclude with a firework spectacular show at 10 p.m.
