MIDLAND, Texas — There’s now one less childcare center in Midland after Day By Day Learning Center opened its doors to children for the last time Friday.
This decision to close comes after the recent passing of the center's Director and Founder Marilyn Harmon Henderson.
Jessica Sanchez is one of many parents whose children attended Day By Day and is currently looking for a new daycare for her children.
"They're little so they don't really know what's going on," Sanchez said. "But it has been devastating just because of the family that we have here at Day By Day. The teachers are wonderful, I'm concerned for them and what they'll do next."
Sanchez said she and her children have fond memories of Day By Day, but know she has to start looking for a new daycare for her children.
While it sounds pretty straightforward to find another daycare, it is not easy.
“I think it might take a little while," Sanchez said. "You have to tour and fill out applications and go through getting pediatrician checks."
NewsWest 9 spoke to Henderson's family, who owns Day By Day Learning Center, and they said the daycare center closed due to uncontrollable circumstances despite the efforts of the family to keep it open.
