Odessa restaurant The Sandwichery Sandwich Shop closes after 37 years

"We put it on social media that we were closing down. I know it surprised a lot of people."

ODESSA, Texas — A restaurant in Odessa is sadly coming to a close after 37 years of operation.

Located at 1007 E. 6th St., The Sandwichery Sandwich Shop will remain open until Friday, Dec. 29.

So just a few days for the community to have their last few bites of their sandwiches and sip some soups.

Owner Steve Doan mentioned how he revealed the news to the community and what he plans for the future.

"Well, we put it on social media that we were closing down. We kind of waited until the last minute to do it. I know it surprised a lot of people. Kind of a surprise to me," Doan said. "I just had a guy that had interest in this building to put his business in and I've been doing this [for] 37 years and at 68 years old I'm ready to kind of slow down and spend more time with my grandkids. Maybe do a little traveling and I love playing golf and maybe play more golf."

Doan and his wife thanked the community for serving them throughout the years.

A new business is taking its place and it's the Tall City Meat Market and BBQ.

This will be the third location for them.

The other locations are in Midland and Greenwood.
