PECOS, Texas — The Town of Pecos City is considering a new tax rate for the 2020 tax year.
The rate would be $0.619517 per $100 valuation.
In a notice, the governing body of the Town of Pecos City said this amount, an increase from $0.600000 in the previous year, would be used to help fund parks and recreation improvement, law enforcement and other government services.
However, the town must hold two public hearings before they are allowed adopt the rate.
Both hearings will start at 5:30 p.m. at the city hall, located at 115 W. 3rd Street.
The first meeting is on July 9 while the second is scheduled for July 23.
All citizens are invited to these hearings to express their opinions on the proposed tax rate.
To find out how much your property tax rate would be based on this new tax rate, you can calculate it with this formula:
property tax amount = (rate) x (taxable value of your property) / 100
This means you would multiple the taxable value of your property by the new rate, $0.619517. That number would then be divided by 100.
