2 arrests made in connection to aggravated kidnapping investigation

Odessa Police arrested Corey Mayweather, 28, and Maurico Roberts, 24, in connection to an aggravated kidnapping that occurred Tuesday morning in Northeast Odessa.
The New Orleans Police Department says a man attempted to flee a group of suspects as they tried to carjack him early Saturday morning.

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa Police arrested Corey Mayweather, 28, and Maurico Roberts, 24, in connection to an aggravated kidnapping that occurred Tuesday morning in Northeast Odessa.

According to police, officers were called to a disturbance where a 25-year-old complainant advised them Mayweather and Roberts came to his home off Englewood.

Mayweather pointed a gun at the complainant and forced him to get into a black 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer while Roberts drove them to Harris Street.

The complainant reported that Mayweather pointed the gun at him a second time and threatened to shoot him.

The complainant managed to exit the vehicle in the 1100 block of Harris before calling police.

While responding to the call, an OPD officer observed a black Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling in the area.

A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and both occupants were identified as Mayweather and Roberts.

Officers found Roberts to be in possession of a Taurus handgun, which was later confirmed to be stolen out of Fort Worth.

Further investigation revealed that Roberts was a convicted felon. Both subjects were charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

While at the jail, a folded one dollar bill containing cocaine fell out of Mayweather’s pant leg. Mayweather was additionally charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
