MIDLAND, Texas — Prom season is slowly but surely coming up.
While some girls may be ecstatic about it, for others it is a rough time to find a feasible dress.
Thankfully organizations like 3:11 Ministries exist.
"3:11 exists to serve the children in Midland County," 3:11 Ministries Director Sally Stafford said. "We believe that every child deserves to go to school with a level playing field. With good functional shoes, clothes, prom dresses, go back after Christmas break with great gifts and toys to talk about just like their peers. Whether their families can afford to provide them with that experience or not. We think they deserve to have those experiences."
3:11 Ministries have many programs that serve the young women of Midland, but one in particular is the Perfect PROMise Program. This program extends beyond Midland County and serves any and every girl who might be in need in West Texas.
"Perfect Promise over the last several years has reached more and more young women who maybe wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to attend prom," Stafford said.
The program also strives to bring joy to their experiences with the help of volunteer fairy godmothers.
"They help our young ladies go through all these dresses and find their perfect dress to attend prom all the while giving them encouragement and just loving on them," Stafford said. "I have seen that the fairy godmothers that come and volunteer to help these girls, the joy just increases each year. They love it so much."
With prom around the corner, 3:11 Ministries is still accepting gently used formal dresses, shoes, accessories and unopened makeup. There is still time to become a fairy godmother as well.
