Atmos Energy allocates $4 million to energy assistance agencies across 8 states

The money going to energy assistance agencies is in preparation for the winter season.

MIDLAND, Texas — Atmos Energy plans to help its customers during the winter months.

Atmos is doing this by allocating $4 million to energy assistance programs across eight states.

These donations will come through in a big way for those needing assistance, according to Andrea Goodson with Atmos Energy.

These donations will help in paying natural gas bills, past due debt, deposits and service charges.

Goodson said these donations will come through the "Sharing the Warmth" program, which will provide support to pay utility bills, home weatherization upgrades and repair replacement of customer-owned natural gas appliances and piping.

These donations will be done in a partnership between Atmos Energy, assistance agencies and other nonprofit organizations.

“Some of our most vulnerable neighbors including the elderly, people with disabilities, veterans, families experiencing financial hardship, and others need additional funds to continue enjoying reliable and affordable natural gas throughout the year,” Goodson said. “The goal of these dollars is to support our neighbors in need, an essential part of Atmos Energy’s Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative. Partnering with a variety of energy assistance programs allows us the opportunity to provide our communities immediate and easy access to funding.”

Atmos Energy also encourages its customers, "needing solutions to keep up with their monthly natural gas expenses, or who need to reconnect their natural gas service, to contact Atmos Energy’s customer service team at 888-286-6700 or visit the account center at Atmos Energy Account Center."

Financial assistance through Atmos Energy is not the only way to receive financial help. Atmos assistance may be available through state, federal and local programs.
