ODESSA, Texas — The five-year anniversary of the 2019 Mobile Mass Shooting in Odessa is approaching.
On Monday, the community continued to honor the seven lives lost in the mass shooting.
Flags are now up at Memorial Garden Park, in honor of the victims of the Aug. 31 mass shooting.
People can see them if anyone drives down 42nd St. in Odessa.
"It's hard to believe it's been five years. But, it's still sad and somber," said Denise Swanner, Odessa City Council at-large. "This is something our parks and recreation believe in. We need to remember the victims we lost on that tragic day."
Each flag is imprinted with the words "Odessa Strong" and the victim's name.
