City pools open in time for summer

Aquatic centers and pools across the Basin will be opening the weekend of May 25.

If you're ready for summer to begin, it's just around the corner for local pools.

The Midland pool will have two pools open in time for Memorial Day weekend. Both the Doug Russell Aquatic Center and the Washington Family Aquatic Center will open on May 25.

Odessa has two aquatic centers, two spraygrounds and a pool opening on May 25. These facilities will be open through August 4.

Both cities' facilities are available for reservation and private pool parties. You can visit the city websites to see more info on the Midland and Odessa pools.

Due to an accident in April, the Russ McEwen Family Aquatic Center in Big Spring will not be opening over the summer.

The City of Andrews announced via Facebook that the City Splash Park will not be opening as originally scheduled due to complications with the filtering system. They are expecting to open the pool in mid-June.

Additionally, the Balmorhea State Park Pool will be open for the summer.
