City of Midland asked to intervene in Ranchland Golf Course dispute

“The City has now, in the 11th hour, been asked to intervene in the dispute between local community members and MISD,” Midland Mayor Lori Blong said.

MIDLAND, Texas — Midland Mayor Lori Blong and the City of Midland have been asked to intervene in the Ranchland Hills Golf Course dispute between the local community and the Midland Independent School District, according to a City of Midland press release.

City council is calling on members of the community to come together to "avoid litigation and work toward a solution for the future of acreage where Ranchland Hills Golf Club resides."

The release states that even though the city is not involved in the issue, they are willing to sit down with those involved to discuss options regarding the dispute.

In late March, at a MISD board meeting, the school district made it official that the land Ranchland Hills stands on would be where a new Midland High school would be.

“Legal arguments are being made on both sides of this discussion and it is clear that one or both parties intend to pursue this through litigation against the City," Mayor Blong said. “If there is desire by others to come to the table and avoid further division, city leaders will be there to be part of the solution."
