West Texas representatives respond to fatal shooting at Former President Trump's PA rally

Odessa Mayor Javier Joven, Congressman August Pfluger, State Representative Brooks Landgraf and more issue statements on the fatal shooting at Trump's rally.

Representatives in West Texas have issued statements after a fatal shooting took place at Former President Donald Trump's Butler, Pennsylvania rally on Saturday. According to a Truth Social post from the former president, he was grazed in the ear by a bullet from the shooter.

NewsWest 9 has obtained a statement from Midland Mayor Lori Blong in relation to the fatal shooting. 

Below is Mayor Blong's statement:

"There is no place in this country for political violence. I am praying for President Trump, who showed tremendous strength and courage tonight. I also pray for the innocent victim and their family." - Lori Blong, Midland Mayor

Below is what Congressman August Pfluger said on Facebook:

"This was an attempted assassination of former President Trump and it must be utterly condemned. 

I am heartbroken to learn that at least one innocent bystander has been killed.

Please continue to pray for our country." - August Pfluger, 11th District of Texas Congressman

Below is what State Representative Brooks Landgraf said about the fatal shooting at the Trump rally:

"By the grace of God, President Trump is safe after the shooter’s dastardly attempt to take his life. Please pray for America." - Brooks Landgraf, Conservative State Rep. (R) serving Ector, Loving, Ward and Winkler counties in the Texas House.

District 31 Senator Kevin Sparks also issued a statement on the fatal shooting at Former President Donald Trump's PA. rally. Below is what he said on Facebook:

"Today was a dark day for our nation. I am revolted by the attempt on President Trump's life. I encourage all of us to turn to God in the face of this godless act. I am keeping President Trump, his family, and those injured in my prayers, hoping for their rapid recovery." - Kevin Sparks, Senate District 31 (Permian Basin - Texas Panhandle)

Cesar Blanco, a senator who represents El Paso and West Texas, issued the below statement on Facebook following the shooting:

"There is no place for political violence in our democracy - ever. My prayers go out to the family of the innocent bystander who tragically lost their life, and I wish Donald Trump, and those injured, a swift recovery. #txlege" - Cesar Blanco, Texas Senator
