MIDLAND, Texas — It is a question many people ask in Midland: Where can they take the kids for family-friendly activities?
It's a question that Terry Lane and Cinnimon Stanford are hoping to answer with the opening of their new business, Legacy Extreme.
The goal was to create an environment that was fun for people of all ages, which includes all types of families.
“Cinnimon and I had the idea about four years ago and as you all know, four years ago was 2020," Lane said. "We had the idea and then the world shut down and we didn't really know what was gonna happen.”
Through all the trials and tribulations, Lane and her family have brought a new family entertainment center to Midland.
For the kids, Legacy Extreme offers a jump park complete with trampolines, a parkour course, basketball and dodgeball.
Adults get to enjoy a self-serve bar and VR sports with minigames such as golf, football, baseball and lacrosse, among others.
Businesses like Legacy Extreme mark a change in Midland's culture. While it will always be known for it's blue collar oil workers, the city is also aiming to become more welcome to young families who may want to stick around in Midland.
“Midland, as everyone can tell by the construction and the traffic, is growing in leaps and bounds," Lane said. "We, as a family, just feel like we want to bring something really cool to this town.”
It's that family friendly dynamic that Lane, Stanford and her family honed in on to make everyone feel welcome.
“No matter what age you are, you can leave and have fun. You can come out come with your family and hang out," Lane said. "I think that the roots of Midland is about family and I think that that's really what we wanted to concentrate on.”
