MIDLAND, Texas — It's no secret, West Texas continues to see an uptick in population and with the growth comes more educational opportunities to meet workforce needs.
That's why the Midland College (MC) Board of Trustees took action Monday night and held a bond exploratory meeting to seek further input from the community about expanding the college and what a bond proposal would look like.
The college is looking to expand its campus along with proposed projects focused on upgrading existing buildings.
"I think it was really important that Dr. [Damon] Kennedy said that they're not looking for approval. They're looking for critiques, insights and confirmation only where it's warranted and I think that's really important when you're going to go before the community to ask them to support construction of new facilities," said Reagan Hignojos, a community member.
Forty percent of students at MC are enrolled in dual credit and the school anticipates a record enrollment next fall.
The college said new facilities would result in more than double the number of students enrolled in the fall of 2020.
