MIDLAND, Texas — On Wednesday, Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) celebrated the second year of its Ronald McDonald Family Room at the hospital.
The family room serves as a place to stay just steps away from where your child is being treated when they're sick.
It also offers many of the comforts of a home like a living room, kitchen and laundry facilities. All to help alleviate the anxiety of being in a hospital environment.
"Important to get involved with the community because we are serving the community here within the hospital," said Emmanuel Ramirez, president and CEO of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. "Not only is Midland Memorial Hospital taking care of children and families here, but us as well as an organization being able to be within the hospital to have a space where families can come and rest."
Any family who has a hospitalized child is welcome without charge.
Ramirez told NewsWest 9 that over the past two years, the family room at MMH has served over 800 families.
