Midland Native, Olympian Bryce Hoppel visits Holy Cross

Hoppel talked to kids in the community about dreaming big and running towards those dreams.

MIDLAND, Texas — Midland's Olympian, Track Star Bryce Hoppel came out to Holy Cross High School in Midland Thursday.

Hoppel spoke with kids in the community about dreaming big and running towards their dreams.

The Midland native's interest in track and field started when he attended school at Saint Ann's Catholic Church. Now, he's glad to be circling back to where it all started.

During his visit, he hoped he inspired the kids.

"I think one of the main like messages I think is, I mean I was sitting right there in their shoes and I was like a kid with the big dreams and dreams of being an Olympian, being a professional athlete and faith. My faith is a huge part of that and being brought up in the Catholic Church and as a Christian, I think a lot of that is what what plays into me being successful," said Hoppel.

Hoppel added that he wanted the kids to, "realize that if they dream big too that they they can accomplish all they set their minds to."

The Midland native told NewsWest 9 how great the community of Midland is, especially during the time he was chasing after his goal of becoming an Olympian track star.
