MIDLAND, Texas — Safe Place of the Permian Basin cut the ribbon on their brand new location off of Andrews Highway in Midland on Wednesday. The opening of the brand new location was all thanks to millions of dollars in donations.
The new location was a culmination of a $25 million design and construction project.
Safe Place of the Permian Basin invited several community members out for an open house to show off the results of all their hard work.
"We want to thank our donors and our board. We want to thank the safe place staff and everybody's who's worked very hard," said Matt French, board president for Safe Place of the Permian Basin. "And once again we say to anyone who's having an issue with domestic violence that you're not alone. This is a safe place, just reach out to us and we can help you."
The new building can house more than 140 people. It has a kitchen, counseling and childcare services for those experiencing domestic violence.
