MIDLAND, Texas — The Doubletree Hotel by Hilton needs some renovating, but they are going to need the funds to do it.
That is why a presentation was made at Monday's Midland Development Corporation meeting.
"The owner of the Doubletree Hotel made a presentation to the MDC Board of Directors to request funding and assistance [for] renovations and upgrades [to] the property," MDC Executive Director Sara Harris said.
While the owners will be providing $2.5 million of their own money, they still need more for their renovations.
Harris said they requested $15 million from the MDC.
Renovations would go towards the lobby, guest rooms, restaurant and rooftop bar among others.
These plans were supposed to have been done three years ago, but they were put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since this was just a presentation to the board, no action was taken on whether or not money would be provided.
