State Rep. Brooks Landgraf provides update on Permian Basin Containers fire

"TCEQ is deploying a mobile van with additional resources to Ector County to ensure a proper level of support for TCEQ investigators and the residents in the area."

MIDLAND, Texas — State Representative Brooks Landgraf took to Facebook Wednesday to provide an update he got regarding the Permian Basin Containers fire.

In the post he said:

"TCEQ has provided me with a daily update about the PBC fire site that I want to pass along to you:

First, the mobile air-quality monitor deployed by TCEQ continues to pick up an abnormal reading in the air near the site. These readings indicate that the cause is likely the hotspot fires that continue to pop up, the pooled liquids at the site, or a combination of the two. However, it the air quality does not rise to the threat level that would prompt an evacuation.

Second, TCEQ’s Director of Compliance is closely monitoring the remediation process at the site and will ensure that clean up of the site is done in a timely manner.

Third, as most already know, “hotspot” fires continue to pop up in storage containers on the site (including a particularly large one last night). Odessa Fire Rescue has diligently responded to those calls, and TCEQ is in regular communication with OFR.

Lastly, TCEQ is deploying a mobile van with additional resources to Ector County to ensure a proper level of support for TCEQ investigators and the residents in the area.

I will continue to keep you posted with updates as I receive them. Please let me know if you have any questions."
