Toys get distributed at Odessa's Salvation Army

Tons of toys from NewsWest 9's Toy Drive got distributed Monday morning to Odessa's Salvation Army.

ODESSA, Texas — Tons of toys coming from the NewsWest 9 Toy Drive have been distributed!

This distribution was done at the Odessa Salvation Army Monday morning, where several volunteers worked together to get bags packed and ready to go for families under The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.

Families of low income applied for the Angel Tree Program a few months ago and generous donors in the local community adopt Angel Tree recipients to purchase toys and other items for them.

For any forgotten angels, meaning angels who are not adopted, that's when all your donations from the NewsWest 9 Toy Drive come into play.

"A huge thank you to our community because we couldn't do this without anyone giving whether it's a monetary donation or clothes or picking angels off Angel Tree, at their company, or at Walmart. It's a huge thank you because of them we're able to help over 500 kids have a great Christmas this year," Salvation Army Captain Stephanie Vincent said.

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Midland Salvation Army will be having their distribution day.
